In late March, J.Daniel was in Afghanistan and on patrol in an area where many IED's had been found. He said the next thing he knew, he was tossed into the air and heard a loud explosion. It took him a few minutes to realize he had stepped on an IED and had lost his right foot. He credits his men with getting him help quickly and can't wait to be reunited with them when they get back.

Update: 7/6/2010 Daniel was able to visit his hometown for a short leave and was honored at his church as a surprise to the parishioners on Sunday the Fourth of July. He stood....to participate in a re-presentation of his Purple Heart while his parents, wife and toddler son looked on with pride.
He, of course, took it all in stride and wants people to know he was 'only doing my job'.
